God Chose You!
Have you ever been so lost, broken and in the darkest of places that you feel like you can’t get out but there’s still somebody kicking you! It just makes you wonder doesn’t it, like if I’m at my lowest already, why do they keep trying to put me down?
The enemy, rather it be a physical person in your life or just principalities, (Ephesians 6:12) doesn’t like when you carry yourself with standards, morals, ambition, godliness…BOUNDARIES! Heck even a smile bothers some folks
It’s because they see in you what you don’t see in yourself! Though you see darkness, they see the light. Though everything is going wrong in your eyes, they see the favor on your life. Though you feel worthless, they see that you are enough! You have been chosen even when your still living worldly the enemy knows what your life will be like as soon as you get in relationship with God so he’ll try everything he can to stop you from seeking Him.
That’s why we NEED to seek God because finding God is finding ourselves (Genesis 1:27)
My pastor preached on the subject a few months ago in a sermon he called “filter of inadequacy” its when someone continues to bring up your past mistakes, circumstances and insecurities to make you feel that you are not qualified to do the job, which is fulfilling your purpose here on Earth.
I have struggled with this for so long but I have decided to be someone new. I’ve made the same decision a thousand times but then something happens…It’s like the highs and lows of change. The high being pride in my accomplishments but the lows happen when someone points out the fact that I’m not perfect yet (and I’m a perfectionist)! It makes me feel like everything I’ve done to become a better person isn’t good enough and I can get discouraged so easily but when you know who you are other peoples words, thoughts and actions can’t get to you.
I’m learning to realize that people are just projecting how they feel about themselves. If they are going through a mental crisis they will try to attack your mind as well. If they are feeling low they want to bring you down with them but if someone is happy and in love within themselves it is easy for them to love you and lift you up.
It’s the same with me and for you. We can try our best to keep our problems and insecurities to ourselves but if someone says the wrong thing to set us off, they are going to feel it come out so it’s important that we check ourselves everyday.
Praying and meditating is an awesome strategy to calm down once we’ve been triggered and it has helped me a lot when it comes to responding with love or not responding at all, but we also have to get to the bottom of why we reacted that way and learn how to respond differently so that when we project, we are projecting Godliness. We can’t project what isn’t inside of us!
Praying and reading the Bible to know and understand God, reflecting on the word and self-reflecting is even more important than running to God in prayer with our troubles and frustrations, he wants to hear those too, but just knowing what God wants for you can help pull you out of a very dark place.
One of my favorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11 it says that God’s plan for us is to prosper and the biggest way for us to do that is to rid ourselves from the enemies mind tricks.
You may be down right now but keep looking up and seek the truth. (John 17:17) The only truth is God, because He is holy and he can not lie so if God didn’t say it then it’s not true!
My prayer today is that we seek the truth in God to help pull us out of the dark pit we create in our mind when we believe the devil’s. I pray that when feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, depression, anxiety and pressure try to pull us back into our past that we remember God has better plans for us better than we can even imagine for ourselves and we keep moving forward. And lastly I pray that we don’t allow ourselves to react when other people project on us but we be still, seek guidance from the Holy Spirit and wait on God to tell us how to respond.
Be encouraged and remember to do everything in love
Love, Eve
